Meet the owner

Chef Londa’s story begins long before Detroit BBQ & Soul. A Chicago-born chef and entrepreneur, she discovered her love for cooking at just 10 years old. In 1990, her family opened Southern Kitchen Soulfood, where she learned the heart of soul food alongside her mother—her greatest teacher. After losing her mother, Chef Londa carried those lessons forward, turning cooking into a way to honor her family’s legacy. Through years of catering, serving her community and creating unforgettable dishes like her viral Peach Cobbler Wings and Oxtail Pizza, she built a loyal following of her own. Detroit BBQ & Soul is the next chapter of that journey: food rooted in family, tradition, creativity and love
